Welcome to HR Collier

As an affiliate chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), HR Collier is a vibrant group of over 200 human resource professionals who come together to discuss issues related to human resource management and to find ways to better serve their employers and employees. Whether you are new to the HR field or have many years of experience, we are a local starting point for networking, information, professional development and continued support of excellence in Human Resources!

HR Collier provides monthly meetings with speakers, educational programs, Tri-County Conference, and numerous opportunities to network with human resource professionals. If you are not already a member of our chapter, click here for information on joining. As a reminder, all memberships are individual-based (not company-based) in accordance to SHRM guidelines.

We are always looking for VOLUNTEERS! Serving as a volunteer is a great way to give back to the HR community and to network with your peers. It is also a great way to use skills you already have or to develop a new skill you need. Contact our current President for more information

HR Collier September Meeting Announcement

Emotional Intelligence & Leadership Styles


Mr. Casalanguida will guide audience through Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and illustrate his ability to understand the way people feel and react; to use this skill to make good judgments and to avoid or solve problems with various Leadership styles.


Mr. Casalanguida joined Collier County government in 2004 with more than 15 years’ experience as a principal in a Massachusetts-based engineering, surveying and consulting firm. He has taken on progressively more challenging roles and on March 10, 2015, was confirmed by the Board of Collier County Commissioners to be the Deputy County Manager. 

Under County Manager Leo Ochs’ direction, Mr. Casalanguida serves as Chief Operating Officer, responsible for management and oversight of all aspects of agency operations and finances. He also assists the County Manager at the corporate level in the execution of the Board of Collier County Commissioners’ strategic plan, as well as guiding and assisting the senior leadership team in the execution of department and division business plans and programs. 

“I am proud of the work the Growth Management Department has undertaken, with the tremendous support of the board, to effectively manage our assets, make our operations more efficient and deliver superior customer service. I look forward to bringing some of those ideas to this new position and I am honored the County Manager has placed his faith in me to do this job,” said Mr. Casalanguida. 

Mr. Casalanguida has served as a project manager, planning director and deputy administrator in the Growth Management Department after joining Collier County in 2004. He was promoted to the position of Growth Management Department Director in 2012. 

Mr. Casalanguida holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management from Hodges University. In addition, he is a Certified Public Manager through Florida State University’s Center for Public Management.

              This program is pre-approved by HRCI for 1 general credit and pre-approved by SHRM for 1 PDC.
